Now, before we start this piece, I need you to understand that I am in no way a Real Estate Guru, Mentor, or a seasoned professional. Hell, I'm not even a licensed agent yet. These blog posts are simply memoirs of the knowledge and wisdom I've encountered during my current pursuit of becoming a successful licensed agent. We've all seen stories and posts on social media of newly licensed agents frustrated with the lack of mentorship and resources that are available to them.

So, in the spirit of abundance, I'm sharing with you the key lessons I'm learning during our common pursuit of an exciting new career, a fat bank account, and a gratifying lifestyle.

Let's begin.

Statistics show that 87% of new Real Estate Agents quit during the first year after obtaining a license. Why you might ask? It all boils down to a simple yet difficult-to-change aspect of how we operate on a day-to-day basis.

OUR MINDSET

You see, before becoming an agent, chances are you had a job in which you were fairly competent at performing the daily duties and responsibilities that said job entitled.

As Real Estate Agents, our duties will require us to wear many different hats throughout our daily encounters with our clients. We'll wear the hats of legal counsel, therapist, financial advisor, friend, market advisor, salesperson, among many others.

Odds are, the hats we will feel the most comfortable wearing are those that we wore in our previous occupations. As human beings, we tend to take the steps that led us to our past successes and use them as building blocks when faced with a new challenge. These same successes can hold us back.

When we do this, we experience self-limiting beliefs, Unrealistic expectations, and an unwillingness to accept our new environment.

The #1 reason why agents don't find their new profession as exciting or as lucrative as they hoped it would be is an unwillingness to accept their new environment.

As a new agent, you are being dropped into an environment that is different from anything else you have experienced in the past. If you aren't prepared for what to expect & don't adapt quickly to this new environment, you'll find yourself frustrated, hopeless, and discouraged.

The faster you can adapt, the faster you can and will start generating revenue.
